Early Life and Education
Kinzon “Kinzie” LaSalle is a former American football defensive tackle who played for the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2001 to 2004. Born on August 12, 1982, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kinzoe grew up in a sports-oriented family and was encouraged to participate in various physical activities from an early age. Growing up in Milwaukee, LaSalle attended Riverside University High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. As a senior, he led his team to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division I state championship title while also earning All-American honors for the 2000 season.
College Football Career
After high school, LaSalle received a full scholarship from University of Wisconsin-Madison and joined their Badgers football team. During his college career, he played in three consecutive Rose Bowl games (2003-2005) under head coach Barry Alvarez. As a redshirt freshman, LaSalle started all 13 games at left defensive tackle for the Badgers, totaling 35 tackles, four sacks, and one interception return for touchdown.
In his junior year, LaSalle earned honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference recognition after accumulating 55 tackles (15 solo), eight tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one pass defensed. The following season, he led the team in tackles with 67 stops while recording five sacks, three tackles for loss, and a blocked punt against Minnesota.
Professional Football Career
After graduating from Wisconsin-Madison in May 2005, LaSalle was not drafted into the National Football League (NFL) but instead signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints. He competed with incumbent defensive tackle Hollis Thomas for roster spot during training camp before being waived on August 28, 2005.
LaSalle then joined the practice squad of the St. Louis Rams and spent several weeks prior to signing a futures contract in January 2006 with the same team. In October that year, he was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs but released without playing any regular season games for them either.
Post-Football Life
In June 2010, LaSalle participated in a charity softball game alongside former NFL quarterback Brett Favre at Lambeau Field to support various Wisconsin-based children’s causes. He has since worked as an assistant coach for local youth football teams and engaged in various entrepreneurial ventures related to fitness training.
LaSalle currently resides in his hometown of Milwaukee, where he remains involved with the local community through volunteer work, including partnering with organizations that provide sports activities to underprivileged youths.
